SUPERINTENDENT WEIGHS IN ON EDUCATOR’S SEX CHARGE

SWANTON: Winton Goodrich, the Superintendent of the Franklin Northwest Supervisory Union has released a statement related to yesterday’s arrest of a Highgate Elementary School Paraeducator.

According to Goodrich, Josie Spears was put on paid administrative leave following the victim’s mother reporting the incident to the school two weeks ago.

Spears is accused of sending nude photographs of herself to the student who was nine years old at the time.

Goodrich says the school is conducting their own investigation, which they hope to complete soon.

Schools in Franklin NW follow all laws and board policies related to this issue,” Goodrich said in a written statement.

The allegations were initially reported to the principal at the Highgate Elementary School, according to Goodrich. The school immediately contacted state officials and put Spears on administrative leave.

Spears was arraigned in Criminal Court on Tuesday morning on one felony count of Lewd and Lascivious Conduct with a child.
