BERKSHIRE CRASH KILLS DRIVER

Vermont State Police say Michael Smith, 33, of Berkshire was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Vermont Route 118 just before midnight when he wrecked his 2006 Toyota Tundra, according to Trooper Quealy.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 11:55 pm.

Quealy said Smith was the sole occupant of the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene and was not wearing his seatbelt.

According to the trooper, Smith was seen by a Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy moments before traveling more than 100 miles per hour in the 50 miles per hour zone.

The crash investigation is ongoing, according to the trooper.
