THIRD SAPD OFFICER CHARGED FOR ASSAULT IN SEVEN MONTHS

The Vermont Attorney General’s Office announced Monday afternoon that former St. Albans Police Officer Joel Daugreilh will be charged with simple assault in criminal court in St. Albans tomorrow afternoon.

The specifics of the charges were not made public on Monday evening, however, court records will indicate what sparked the charges. Those court records are expected to be filed with the court before his 1 pm arraignment tomorrow.

The press release published by the Attorney General’s Office did not say if the charges stemmed from an incident when Daugreilh was on duty.

A request for comment from the St. Albans Police was not returned as of press time.

Daugreilh’s arrest makes the third Saint Albans Police Officer to face criminal assault charges since November of last year when the Attorney General’s Office filed charges against former Officer Jason Lawton.

In April, former officer Zachary Pigeon was charged with sexual and physical assault charges.

Both cases are pending.

The County Courier will have more information as is becomes available.
