Bernice Russell D’Ambrosio

Bernice Russell D’Ambrosio, 94, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2021 with her daughters by her side. 

She was born at home on October 29, 1926, in West Enosburgh, Vermont, the daughter of Guy and Ella Green. She moved to California at age 22. Bernice resided in the Fresno/Clovis/Madera area most of her life.

Bernice was known for her happy disposition, great sense of humor and her love for dogs. She loved to travel, go camping, play cards, and spend time with family and friends. Bernice enjoyed her many trips to Hawaii, Vermont, Canada, and travels across the United States.  She also went on several cruises to Alaska and Nova Scotia (visiting relatives). She was loved by many and will truly be missed. 

Bernice is survived by daughters Gloria Leong (Harvey) and Ann Zendner (Brent), and her son, Fay Russell,  stepdaughters JoAnn Woodward and Leslie Mayer (Frank), stepson Jerry D’Ambrosio (June), and Guy’s wife, Ginger D’Ambrosia. She had 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.  Bernice is also survived by her beloved sister, Ethel Anderson, age 99 (100 on May 26), of Visalia, CA.

She is predeceased by her husbands, Fred Russell and James D’Ambrosio; and daughter, Marie Monson, step-son Guy D’Ambrosia, and brothers Harold and Oakley Green. 

A graveside service will be held at the Clovis Memorial Cemetery at 10:00 am on June 14, 2021. Due to COVID restrictions, the service is limited to 50 family members only. 

In September of this year, her daughter, Gloria hopes to scatter a few of her mom’s ashes at the family cemetery located near Bernice’s former Green family home.
