Robert “Bobby” L. Freeman

HIGHGATE – Robert “Bobby” L. Freeman, age 89, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2021 with his loving wife and family by his side at the Brownway Residence in Enosburg Falls.

He was born in Highgate on February 12, 1932 to the late Jesse Freeman.

Bobby married Madeline (Boucher) his soul mate, and the love of his life on June 30, 1951. They just celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary surrounded by loved ones. The love they shared for one another was genuine, constant and a true example of faithful companionship. He was employed by J.A. Feeley and Sons Well Drilling Company, and was a salesman for Frost Well Drilling for over 33 years before retiring. Bobby and Madeline were devoted parishioners of the Church of the Nativity. He loved to snowmobile and go for rides on back roads and always loved pointing out each home that he had drilled a well for. Some of his best times were spent in the sawmill, milling logs for Paul, and building picnic tables with Robin and Brian. His great-grandchildren and Averi adored him, and he treasured every picture they handmade for him. All the ladies will miss Bobby’s Jovan Musk aftershave, charming smile, and flirtatious personality.

He is survived by his wife, soulmate, and the love of his life, Madeline (Boucher) Freeman of Highgate; daughter, Linda Gagne of Highgate; brother, Laurel “Squeak” Freeman of Enosburgh; very special grandchildren, Robin Gagne and her wife, Laura Petig of Highgate, and Brian Gagne and his partner, Krista Harrison and her daughter, Averi of St. Albans; great grandchildren, Paiton and Hunter Gagne of St. Albans; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and great friends.

Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his children, Kathy, Cindy, and Steven; son-in-law, Paul Gagne; grandson, Steven Gagne; siblings, Morris, Edwin, Naomi Abare, and Jackie Duprey; and mother and father-in-law, Rhea and Gabriel Boucher.

Family and friends are invited to Bobby’s Life Celebration events to include visitation on Wednesday, August 18, 2021 from 1 – 2:00 PM, at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT 05488, with a Memorial Service to follow at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at a later date.
