SHELDON CRASH CLAIMS TWO YOUNG LIVES, INJURES THIRD

Vermont State Police responded to a one-vehicle crash in Sheldon early Friday morning, where two locals were killed, including the driver.

According to Trooper Andrew Underwood, the crash happened on Vermont Route 105, between Woods Hill Road and Mill Street in Sheldon. It was reported to 911 at 1:36 am, the trooper reported.

Bethanie Therrien, 22, of East Berkshire was driving the 2002 Subaru Forester east on Route 105 when the crash occurred. Police said the vehicle crashed off the north side of the highway after crossing over the centerline of the highway.

Therrien had two passengers in her vehicle when the crash happened- Colby Reynolds, 18, of Enosburg, and Monica Tatro, 18, of Richford.

Both Therrien and Reynolds died at the scene of the crash, according to the Trooper. Tatro was transported to UVM Medical Center where she is being treated for “critical, non-life-threatening” injuries, according to the Trooper.

State Police say the crash was made much worse by a lack of seatbelt use, and speed.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. If you witnessed the crash, or have any information that might help police, you are asked to contact the St. Albans Barracks of the Vermont State Police at 524-5993.
