TAMPA, FL: The Hendrickson family is sad to announce the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather (Jaja) and great grandfather, Raymond on October 31st in Tampa, Florida. Raymond was born and raised in Clifton, NJ to Anthony and Frances Hendrickson, proudly representing their Polish heritage and close knit family.
Ray met his future wife Hilda in high school and after receiving his diploma, Ray followed in the footsteps of his very close cousin Arthur Goss and attended Norwich University in Northfield, VT. After serving four years in the U.S. Army in Germany, Ray and Hilda returned to New Jersey with their first two children. A few years following, they realized how fond of Vermont they were and decided to move back where Ray began working for the State of Vermont.
Raymond worked for the state for several years before transitioning into the medical field of prosthetics. As the Business Manager at Roy’s Orthopedics in Burlington, VT, in 1979, Ray had the honor of presenting their developing technology to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC.
One of Raymond’s greatest personal accomplishments was owning his shared real estate business with his wife in Shelburne from 1988 to 2001. Ray was always active in his church and community, volunteering wherever his skills could be helpful to others.
Ray was always known for his bright intelligence, sense of humor and zest for life. He loved fishing and boating at their camp on Lake Carmi, and skiing in Vermont always made him happy.
Ray leaves behind his wife Hilda of 62 years, daughter Susan Pearson and her husband Mark of San Antonio, FL, their daughter Stefanie Burnette; his son John, and his wife Cynthia of Largo, FL., their children Chelsea and Casey, and his son Jerome of Palm Harbor, FL and children Jordon and Kaitlynn and his son Erik of Vergennes, VT; and three great grandchildren, Riley, Myley, and Colette.
The family requests that memorial donations in Ray’s name be made to: The Norwich Fund, Norwich University, 158 Harmon Drive, Northfield, VT 05663.
