Gerda Anneliese (Napierkowski) Kintigos

READING: Gerda Anneliese (Napierkowski) Kintigos, age 94, of Reading, passed away on February 21, 2022.

Gerda was born on March 29, 1927, in Breslau, Germany; she was the daughter of the late Leo and Anna (Lux) Napierkowski. Gerda was raised and educated in Germany.

Gerda learned English while in college; she worked as an interpreter at the end of the war. Gerda met Dwight D. Eisenhower and assisted in the communication between the United States and Germany.

While working at the Air Force Base, Gerda met James A. Kintigos; they married, moved to the United States in 1946 and settled in Somerville. The couple had three children, Arthur, Karen, and Steven.

Gerda worked as an executive secretary for Compugraphic for many years before it became AGFA. Gerda retired from AGFA after many years.

In her spare time, Gerda loved to travel; she enjoyed visiting new places. Gerda was a sports fan and attended two Super Bowls.

Gerda was the devoted mother of Steven Kintigos of Reading, the late Arthur Kintigos and the late Karen McGillicuddy, loving “Gram” of Tony Kintigos, Garrett Kintigos, April Kintigos, Tracy Snider and the late Nick Kintigos, great-grandmother of Justin, Timothy and many other great-grandchildren; and dear sister of the late Ilsa Napierkowski.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Nichols Funeral Home Inc., 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA on Monday, February 28th from 10:30-11:30 am, immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 am.
