Betty Bressette

HIGHGATE: Betty Bressette, age 88, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, in the arms of her loving husband, Raymond Bressette.

She was born on May 20, 1934, to Clifford and Marion (Friot) Partlow. The eldest of ten children, Betty took ownership of her role as caretaker at an early age, caring for siblings, entertaining neighborhood children, making and sharing meals with the lonely, and nursing people back to health. She was never too busy to be of service to others. Her smile was warm and her home was a refuge for many. She was a natural caregiver and active listener.

Betty was the matriarch of her family. Family gatherings were among her favorite things. She could make an activity of any kind into a party and have you feeling excited to participate – carving pumpkins, stacking wood, flying kites, and harvesting fruit – she’d make a party out of it.

In addition to her own biological family, she welcomed neighbors and friends into her life and shared her joy in experiencing all the simple and wonderful things this world has to offer. And she loved them all. On any given day you could find her refrigerator with a constant rotation of school portraits and children’s art on display with pride.

Betty was a wonderful stained-glass artist and taught her loved ones the craft. She enjoyed photography, gardening, motorcycle rides, traveling, exploring nature, and blaring her music while getting things done.

Betty is survived by her husband Ray and her children, Bonnie Tinker and her husband James, Howard (Boy) Vanselette and his wife Pamela, also John Langlitz and his wife Kathy; her grandchildren, Scott Costella and his wife Angie, Brian Costella, Jessica Rollo and her husband Mark, Carrie Vanselette and partner Matthew, Gina Peltier and her husband Casey, Cody Langlitz and John Langlitz; her great-grandchildren Matthew Rollo and his wife Taylor, Olivia Rollo, Chadwick Jewett, Lily-Raine Jewett, and Lucas Greenwood. She is also survived by her siblings Norma Bushey, Cora Clement, Clifford (Wig) Partlow, Beverly Bertrand and her husband Carlton, Patsy St. Francis, Sandra Shedrick, Ellen (Punken) Magnant and her husband Charlie, and Maggie St. Francis.

Betty is predeceased by her parents, stepfather Harold St. Francis, and brother Morris (Sam) Partlow

Special thanks are extended to John and Kathy Lagnlitz, Sandra Shedrick, Joann Julien, and the staff at Franklin County Rehab for all their love and support for Betty and Ray.

In our true family gathering style, we will be having a Potluck Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 3rd at 11:00 am at the Swanton VFW.
