MAN ARRESTED FOR BURGLARIZING CATHOLIC CHURCH

Trevor Hartigan, 20, of St. Albans appears in his mugshot provided by the St. Albans Police Department.

ST. ALBANS: St. Albans Police say they arrested a 20 year-old man early this morning after responding to a reported burglary in progress at Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street.

As police officers were arriving on scene, they noticed a man running from the area. That man matched the description of the suspect according to St. Albans Police Chief Gary Taylor.

Police ran after than man, who they later identified as Trevor Hartigan, 20, of St. Albans.

“After a brief struggle” took place as police took Hartigan into custody, according to Taylor. He was held at Northwest Correctional Center and will be in court later today to be arraigned on the charges of Burglary, Unlawful Mischief, Resisting Arrest, Assault on Law Enforcement and Disorderly Conduct.

This is far from the first time the 20 year-old has been caught up in a legal battle. Almost three years ago, when Hartigan was 17, he was charged as an adult for DUI (his BAC was 0.173%), with five other teens in his car.

Police did not say what was stolen from the church, or how much damage may have been caused in the burglary.
