FREE GROCERIES? NOT SO FAST!

Four St. Albans women have found themselves tied up in a fraud case that Police say cost a small grocery chain more than $2,700.

According to St. Albans Police, Tonya Wells, 37, of St. Albans was employed at Food City as a cashier. During work, she allowed friends and family to leave the store with groceries, without paying for them.

Police Chief Gary Taylor said in a press release that video surveillance shows $2,786.33 in groceries not being paid for when three acquaintances of Wells’ went through her line at the store.

Police arrested Robbi Britch, 41, Ethel Clogston, 40, and Alisha Robtoy, 51, all of which are St. Albans residents according to police.

They are being charged with aiding in the commission of a felony.

Wells is being charged with embezzlement, according to police.

All four women are due in court on January 3rd to answer to the charges.
