FURLOUGHED MAN ARRESTED WITH HEROIN
State Police arrested a St. Albans man and sent him back to prison last week, according to a press release.
Enforcement officers with the Department of Corrections checked on Eric Bartemy, 36, of St. Albans at his residence on November 2nd, police said. During the check, officers found drugs inside Bartemy’s home.
Bartemy had been on furlough, which allows prisoners to be released into the general public, but still remain supervised.
According to Detective Richard Desany, when police brought Bartemy back to Northwestern Correctional Center- he was searched and police found Heroin on him.
Bartemy is currently serving a sentence that could keep him in prison until 2025, even without the new charges.
Bartemy is due in court on December 19th. He is being charged with transporting a regulated drug into a detention center.
According to records, Bartemy has been convicted of leaving the scene of an accident, DUI, three burglaries, unlawful mischief, careless and negligent, and violations of his conditions of release.
