PD ARRESTS DRIVER IN CONNECTION WITH FATAL SEPTEMBER CAR CRASH
St. Albans Police say they have arrested the driver of a car that crashed on September 21st, killing the passenger and injuring the driver.
Ryan Wooster, 20, of Georgia VT, was transported by AmCare Ambulance to Northwest Medical Center with severe injuries. He was later transported to UVM, according to police.
Police said the sole passenger, Cassandra Viens, 20, of St Albans, was killed in the crash. Viens had been wearing a seatbelt, but incorrectly, and Wooster was unbelted at the time of the September 21st crash.
Wooster is being charged with grossly negligent operation with death resulting, which is a crime punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Wooster was issued a flash citation ordering him to appear in court on December 13, 2016 at 11:00am.
Police said this is a result of a long and arduous investigation.
