William H. Corrigan

BARRE – William Henry Corrigan, 85, of Westwood Parkway passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin.

Born June 11, 1934 in Barre, he was the son of John E. and Mary Georgianna (Menard) Corrigan.  William attended local elementary schools and Spaulding High School. On September 23, 1952 he enlisted in the U.S. Army in Manchester, NH. He served as a Medical Corpsman in Korea, until he was honorably discharged at Fort Jackson, SC on September 22, 1955.  

On April 18, 1959 he married Patricia Drown in St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Barre.  Following their marriage, they made their home in and around the Barre area. Patricia passed away on November 29, 2014.  

William was employed in the granite industry for 41 years working for Brusa Brothers, Nativi Granite Company and lastly for Granite Industries of Vermont.  While he was in the Steel Workers Union, William held every office, including Business Agent from 1976 to 1977.  

His memberships included Barre VFW Post #790; Barre American Legion Post #10; Barre Lodge of Elks #1535;

the Mutuo, Inc.; as well as being a very active member of the Steel Workers Union.   In his spare time, William enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots; playing cribbage and pitch at the VFW; and playing and calling Bingo at all the local churches and clubs.  Although most of all, he loved going to the casinos, especially with his wife.  

Survivors include his daughter Kimberly Ann Corrigan of Barre; his son Scott Corrigan and his wife, Donna Jean of St. Albans; his grandchildren Dustin and Christopher, both of Barre; Sarah of Portland, ME; and Anderson of St. Albans; his great-granddaughter Alexis; his brother Richard Corrigan and his wife, Sandra; his sister Mary Bianchi, his nieces – The Connecticut Girls; his nephews Eddie Corrigan and Aldo Bianchi, as well as many more nephews and nieces.    

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Patricia; his brothers John and Edward and his sister Gertrude; and his mother-in-law Amelia Drown.  

The Mass of Christian Burial to honor and celebrate his life will be held on Friday, November 8, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.  

in the St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 79 Summer Street, Barre.  Family and friends may call on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Hooker and Whitcomb Funeral Home, 7 Academy Street, Barre.   A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center.  For a memorial guestbook, visit www.hookerwhitcomb.com   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, PO Box 459, South Hero, VT  05486.
