The driver of the pickup, 69 year-old David Roddy of Highgate was killed at the scene from the crash. His 68 year-old wife sustained what police called “moderate” injures in the crash. She was rushed to the hospital for treatment after the crash.

Roddy was a well-known man who worked at O.C. McCuin and Son’s in Highgate.

Police are still investigating the crash, but they have determined that the rear axel of the tractor-trailer struck the driver’s side front end of the Roddys’ truck.

Police have yet to charge the 58 year old tractor-trailer driver, Kenneth Vickman of Freedom, New York with any crimes related to the crash.

Trooper Matthew Conte said the crash occurred near the intersection of McLaughlin Drive on Route 78. That’s just east of Lampkin Street, and West of the Hannah Road.
