Mt. Abraham slipped past visiting Missisquoi, edging the Thunderbirds 70-63 on Wednesday for just the second MVU loss this year.

MVU (5-2) will be hungry to rebound on Saturday afternoon against what should be an equally fired up Milton team. Milton (6-1) had been undefeated before dropping a 56-39 contest to Middlebury on Wednesday.

Liam Kelliher proved too much for Missisquoi to stop, scoring a game-high 26 points. The Eagles (3-4) led 37-35 at halftime and increased that to 52-45 through the third quarter. Missisquoi fought valiantly in the fourth with Gabe Unwin scoring seven points, Sean Power six and Ethan Creller scoring five in the final frame. Ultimately, the Eagles held the lead thanks to an efficient 10 of 13 performance from the foul line in the fourth.

Patrick Walker led MVU with 18 points, notching 16 of those in the first half. Unwin finished with 13 points and Creller with eight.

Tipoff between Missisquoi and Milton is slated for 1:30 in Swanton on Saturday.
