GOVERNMENT CLOSES CANADIAN BORDER

Announced in a Presidential tweet at 9:37 am this morning, the word that our neighbors to the north will be inaccessible for most types of travel. It’s because the President of the United States and the Canadian Prime Minister have closed the border to “non-essential” travel between the two countries in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus.

The Tweet went on to say that trade will not be affected, but the details on how this closure will happen have yet to be released.

The border, although open until now, was all but closed. United States Citizens attempting to cross into Canada were, until today, asked to quarantine for 14 days before once they were approved to cross into the country- essentially halting any same-day travel.

“I have just spoken with President Trump this morning, and we have agreed to temporarily restrict any non-essential travel to the United States,” said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, “Essential travel will continue, our governments understand that food and life-saving medicine will continue.”

A morning press conference with Canadian Prime Minister addressed the issue of the border closure and other issues related to the virus. He also announced about $75 billion worth of government support to bolster the Canadian economy.
