Mary Katherine Tyler

BATH, NH: Mary Katherine Tyler, 64, beloved by her family and all who knew her, died peacefully Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at her home, surrounded by her children.

Mary was born in Lynn, MA on December 4, 1955, daughter of William and Margaret H. (Hussey) Lewis. She graduated in 1973 from Burlington High School in Burlington, MA, and was a majorette and member of the gymnastics team. She attended airline school and worked at Inforex as an administrative assistant in Burlington, MA.

She married Vincent Reynolds, on October 28th, 1977, and they moved to Bakersfield, VT. They had a small farm where Mary enjoyed gardening, making bread, and was a stay-at-home mother raising their four children. She was a dedicated mother attending sports games, plays and concerts; and also enjoyed camping with her family and friends.

Mary was a founding member of the Church of the Rock in St. Albans and served as a deacon.

She was employed at the Holiday House as an LNA, a Restorative Aide and worked in the Activities department. Working with the elderly inspired Mary to study behavioral science.

Mary moved to Bath, NH and on August 2, 1997, married Robert Louis Tyler. She received her BA in Behavioral Science from Granite State College. Mary worked at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, and for several years worked part time at Child and Family Services conducting home visits with families in crisis. She began working at Grafton County Nursing Home as an LNA, also as a social worker, and was promoted to Director of Social Services and Admissions where she was an invaluable support to her colleagues and the many families she served. Her lifelong work with the elderly and their families touched many lives.

Mary was an active member of the St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Woodsville; she was also an integral member of the Grafton County Home Association in North Haverhill, NH.

In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, and baking. She loved walking her dogs, enjoyed nature, and being outdoors. Mostly, Mary treasured time spent with her family.  She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Mary was predeceased by her husband of 20 years, Robert L. Tyler, Sr. on October 16, 2017. She was also predeceased by her parents.

Survivors include her children, Kyle (Marla) Reynolds of Laconia, NH, David Reynolds of Bakersfield, Caitlin Rose Reynolds of Bath, NH, John Phillip Reynolds of Bakersfield, and step-children Robert L.
