POLICE STOP TEEN DRIVING 119 MPH ON I-89

GEORGIA: Police clocked an 18-year-old traveling more than 50 MPH above the speed limit on Interstate 89 in Georgia Friday evening at about 7:51 pm, according to Vermont State Police Trooper Charlotte Hartman.

Hartman was running radar about a mile north of Exit 18 on Interstate 89 when she clocked a Volkswagen Golf traveling at 119 miles per hour in the Northbound lanes. When Trooper Hartman was able to catch up to and stop the vehicle, she discovered 18-year-old Seth Wilbur of South Burlington behind the wheel.

At 54 miles per hour over the speed limit, Wilbur was charged with Excessive Speed as well as Negligent Operation of a motor vehicle, and is due in court to answer to those charges at 10 am on December 14th.

In addition to the criminal charges, Wilbur was issued tickets for speeding that totalled $792, according to Hartman.
