MONTGOMERY SHOOTING INCIDENT BEING INVESTIGATED BY VSP
Vermont State Police responded with rescue crews to a shooting in front of Sylvester’s Market in Montgomery Center at around 12:25 pm on Monday afternoon.
According to public information officer, Adam Silverman of the State Police, the preliminary investigation indicates that an unnamed male sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The initial call for help indicated that the man sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The man was transported by Enosburgh Ambulance to the Enosburgh Emergency Services building to meet with a waiting helicopter, where he was airlifted to UVM Medical Center for treatment.
“Investigation determined the male was experiencing a mental health crisis, and no criminal charges are expected,” Silverman said. “Schools in the area temporarily went into lockdown while the incident was being resolved.”
First responders could be seen tending to the man, who appeared to be in his 50s, lying on the ground on the edge of Route 118 in Montgomery Center prior to the Ambulance crew arriving on the scene.
