VILLAGE VOTERS GIVE STAMP OF APPROVAL TO ALL ITEMS

The voters of Enosburg Falls took to the polls on Tuesday as part of their annual meeting- COVID style.

All eight articles were voted on by Australian ballot due to the pandemic, and all of the questions passed overwhelmingly.

Leonard Charron and Sam Vaillancourt were both re-elected into their three-year seats on the board. Charron received 43 of the 44 votes passed with one blank. Vaillancourt received 42 of the 44 votes, with one blank, and one write-in for Damian Blouin.

Andre Beaulieu was reelected to the Treasurer and Clerk, each for a year, and each with 43 of 44 votes. Moderator Patrick Hayes received 42 votes, with two blanks in his reelection.

Voters approved a question 41-3 to spend $282,000, to be financed over a dozen years, for the repaving of Depot Street, as well as a section of Pleasant, Church, and Missisquoi Streets.

Voters approved of spending $10,000 to upgrade sidewalks by a vote of 42-2.

Voters approved by a margin of 39-5, articles that would allocate $1,000 to Franklin County Industrial Development, as well as $500 for holiday lighting in the downtown area.

There was one less voter who approved of spending $500 for patriotic banners in the downtown area, but that $500 allocation passed with a 38-6 vote.

The budget, which still passed easily, saw the most resistance with only 37 approving of the question, five voting no, and two voters not voting on the issue. That budget is $1,063,981, of which just over 51% would be raised through tax revenue.

Voters also approved that funds from the last financial year be kept within the department of origin to be used as needed. That article was approved by voters 40-4.

Voter participation was low, with only about 4% of the registered voters for the Village casting a ballot. That compares to last week when almost twice the number of Village voters took the time to participate in Town Meeting voting.
