Stephanie A. Brunton

MONTGOMERY CENTER– Stephanie A. Brunton, age 66, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2021 at the McClure Miller Respite House in Colchester. 

She was born in St. Albans on July 8, 1955 to the late Garrett and Dorothy (Clarke) Bevins.

Stephanie grew up on Orchard Street in St. Albans and attended Bellows Free Academy and eventually went on to the earn her GED.

She married Stuart Brunton on June 7, 1980 and the two raised their family in Montgomery Center. Stephanie worked several jobs in the area waitressing and bartending at the St. Albans Legion, The Inn, Zacks on the Rocks, Bernie’s, and Phineas Swann. Additionally, she worked for a time at Montgomery Elementary school, when her daughter was in kindergarten. She also enjoyed her time spent working as a caregiver which suited her servant heart. 

Stephanie loved reading, playing games, working on puzzles and watching gameshows; she even competed to be on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” She was always ready and looked forward to a hand of 31, especially with Missy Longe and playing Yahtzee with her family and friends. Stephanie also enjoyed listening to her favorite artist Elvis and was featured on the radio discussing all the memorabilia she had collected. She was (in her words) “Obsessed with the Titanic since she was 12 years old.” Above all, Stephanie loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and galivanting with her friends, Veronica and Barb. 

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Stuart Brunton of Montgomery Center; daughter, Ashley Brunton and her husband Scott Gendreau of Bedford, Québec; son, Adam Brunton of Richford; grandchildren, Danté Trim, Gabriel Gendreau, and Tristan Gendreau; sister, Bonnie (Bevins) Brunton and her companion Raymond Meserve; close friends, Barbara Burns, Veronica De Sainte-Phalle, Gary & Melissa Longe and their son Gary Jr., Kay Cross, Sue Bessette, and Sandra Hobbs. She leaves behind her dog, Tishe and cat, Little Bit and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Stephanie was predeceased by her father-in-law, Allen Brunton, mother-in-law, Rosanna (Deuso) Brunton, her brothers-in-law, Aaron Brunton, Reuben Brunton; and sister-in-law, Shirley Sturgeon. 

Family and friends are invited to Stephanie’s Life Celebration events on July 26, 2021, to include visitation from 11 am to 12 pm at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT 05450 with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 1 pm at the St. Isidore Catholic Church, 169 Mountain Road, Montgomery Center, VT 05471. Interment will follow in the St. Isidore Catholic Cemetery in Montgomery Center.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Northwestern Medical Center and McClure Miller Respite House for the excellent love and care they provided for Stephanie during her final moments.
