ALBURGH: Vermont State Police and Grand Isle County Sheriff Deputies are on the scene of a reported shooting where two people are reported to be deceased.
The incident was reported just after 10 pm on Saturday night along a dead-end road off Route 2 in Alburgh.
Early reports indicated that two people were deceased as a result of a shooting, with at least one person being transported to UVM Medical Center. An Alburgh ambulance was seen transporting a patient from the scene at around 10:43 pm Saturday night. Grand Isle State’s Attorney Doug DiSabito confirmed those details with the County Courier, but no more information was available as of press time.
Most of the law enforcement personnel that responded left the scene soon afterward, however, there are still at least a half a dozen law enforcement vehicles on the scene, as well as the Alburgh Fire Department. Border Patrol also responded to the scene as well but has since left.
A home is surrounded by police tape, with lights illuminating the scene with police walking in and out.
The County Courier is withholding the exact address of the scene at this time to protect the identities of those involved.
DiSabito said there is no information to indicate that there is any safety concern to the public. “All the people involved are accounted for,” DiSabito said.
Police are securing the scene as they bring in members of the BCI and Major Crimes Unit to comb through evidence. No arrests have been announced as a result of the shooting.
The County Courier will update this story as more information becomes available.
