ROUNDUP: MILTON HOLDS OFF ENOSBURG

A strong fourth quarter helped Milton to a 52-47 win over visiting Enosburg on Wednesday night. The Yellow Jackets led just 35-34 entering the final frame but pushed the lead to 12 points and held off the Hornets the rest of the way.

Milton’s Colin Mathis led all scorers with 14 points to go with eight rebounds and five blocks. Hunter McClellan added eight points, Ben Godin scored six and Sam Plouffe chipped in five. Josh Reil, Donovyn Dallas and Mi’Sean Graham had four points apiece and Ian Bessette added three.

Devyn Gleason led the Hornets with 13 points and Shea Howrigan finished with nine. Gavin Combs scored eight for Enosburg (7-6), which returns to action Saturday at Burr & Burton.

Milton (6-9) snapped a three-game skid with the victory and will look to make it two wins in two days when Middlebury comes to town on Thursday.

GIRLS HOCKEY

COMETS REMAIN PERFECT WITH ROUT OF KINGDOM BLADES

BFA-St. Albans ran away from the Kingdom Blades on Wednesday evening, cruising to an 8-1 victory and improving to 16-0 on the season.

Sophie Zemianek posted a hat trick to lead the BFA scoring and Jodie Gratton chipped in two goals and an assist. Caroline Bliss and Seneca Lamos each registered a goal and an assist and Annika Fersing added a goal. Molly Smith, Bri Jarvis, Maddie Montagne and Rowan Howrigan rounded out the Comet scoresheet with an assist apiece and Makenna Montgomery recorded 16 saves in the BFA net. 

The Comets face the CVU/MMU Cougarhawks at home on Saturday.
