Lynn A. Mitchell

ST. ALBANS: Lynn A. Mitchell, age 65, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 30, 2022 surrounded by her loving family at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

She was born in Burlington on March 24, 1957 to the late Bertram & Catherine “Kitty” (Grandfield) Robtoy.

Lynn grew up in Franklin County and attended BFA-St. Albans and CCV. She married Johnny, her soul mate and the love of her life, on June 11, 1988. Lynn worked for the radio stations, WWSR and WLFE for many years until she retired in 2002. She and Johnny welcomed many children into their home during their 23 years of Foster care. Vacationing in Maine with her aunt and uncle was something Lynn always looked forward to. They even brought the family cat along on one of the trips! After retirement, Lynn treasured time with her granddaughters and attended all of their sporting events. In Lynn’s younger years, she was an avid softball player, she bowled in a league, loved to read, have her hair done and loved to bring her granddaughters to iHop. Her best advice to anyone was, “Don’t think you’re better than anyone else, because you’re not!” Lynn’s wit and one-of-a-kind sense of humor will be missed by all who knew her. The next cup of coffee you enjoy, think of Lynn as she always asked Johnny, “Honey, get me a coffee.”

She is survived by her loving husband, Johnny Mitchell of St. Albans; her children, Nila Ashline and her husband Allen-Michael of Enosburgh, Gail Gore and her husband Ryan of Woodstock, GA, Daniel Mitchell of St. Albans, Jennifer Kirby of St. Albans, and Tannar Yandow-Mitchell also of St. Albans; grandchildren, McKenna, Catherine, Gabrielle and Addison Spaulding, Wyatt Mitchell, Landon Gibbs, Amara Yandow, and Olivia Gore; siblings, Kevin Robtoy, Johnny Robtoy, Dawn Fendley, Amy Benjamin, Jeff Robtoy, Penny Patterson, and Jason Robtoy; special friends, Roger and Debbie LeBlanc, Harvey and Mary Poirier, Jeannie King, Phil and Joan Knight, Richard Cowperthwait, and Eddie and Delia Martin; her beloved animals, Wilma and Widget; her favorite grand-dogs, Miller and Harlow; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Besides her parents, Lynn was predeceased by her brother, Steve Robtoy.

Family and friends are invited to Lynn’s Life Celebration events, which include visitation on Friday, June 17, 2022 from 5-7 pm at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, VT 05488. A funeral will be at 11am on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the First Congregational Church, 27 Church Street, St. Albans, VT 05478.
