Irene J. Jewett
RICHFORD: Irene J. Jewett, age 93, passed away at her home on Friday, June 30, 2023, with her loving family at her side.
She was born December 29, 1929, in Albany, VT the daughter of the late Daniel & Minnie (Poutry) Peters.
Irene was a resident of Richford for most of her life. She worked at several local businesses including the old Richford Drive-In Theater, the Richford School hot lunch program, the Richford Country Club, and for 22 years at the Northland Hockey Stick Factory. Irene and her husband Douglas also operated a vegetable stand for many years. Her favorite hobbies included playing darts, reading romance novels, crocheting & knitting, completing puzzles, word searches, and crosswords, and playing cards. Above all, Irene cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Gary Jewett of Berkshire, Daniel Jewett and his wife Jean of Enosburg Falls, Susan Alexander and her husband Cleo of Richford, Randy Jewett and his wife Sheryl of Richford, and Jeffrey Jewett of Richford; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister, Louise Hartman; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Jewett; two grandchildren, Justin & Jessica Jewett; her daughter-in-law, Marie Jeanne Jewett; and her siblings, Arlene Gilmond, Stanley Peters, and Walter Peters Sr.
Friends and family are invited to Irene’s life celebration to include visitation on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, from 4-7 pm at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at 11 am, at the Richford First Baptist Church, School St., Richford, VT. Interment will follow in the Hill West Cemetery in Montgomery.
