Andre Lapierre

On Thursday, February 29th, 2024, Andre Lapierre passed with his grandchild at his side to join his beloved wife Nicole, his parents, Maurice and Aldea Lapierre, his birth mother, Helen Lafountain, and many of his countless friends and relatives.

Andre was born in Granby, Quebec, on February 26th, 1940, and was adopted at the age of 1. At 6 years of age, the family moved to Vermont to start a dairy farm. Having the ability to take things apart and put them back together, he aspired to become a mechanic. He joined the Air Force National Guard despite encouragement from his father to continue the dairy farm. Instead, he became the “best mechanic in town” specializing in carburetors on Catherine Street in St. Albans while also maintaining and raising beef cows on the family farm, and operating the initial mobile home park. Later on, he and his wife seeing a lack of affordable housing, decided to expand their current mobile home park and develop Town and Country, despite opposition.

Determined to see the world beyond their backyard, he and his wife, Nicole, traveled to many foreign countries, and most recently toured all of the lower 48 and Alaska in their RV. While spending their winters in Florida he loved to play tennis with friends and family, bowling in the Sunday League, and golfing. However, it was fishing for balls out of the drink he enjoyed the most. During summers in Vermont, he enjoyed sharing his love of Corvettes by attending many car shows and rocking in his chair or swing at camp.

Andre was a 4th Degree Knight at the Knights of Columbus Council #297 where on Monday nights he would share his gift of gab with Bingo goers. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW for his military service, as well as a member of the AA community since 1992.

He leaves behind his son James, daughter Michelle and her husband Bob, son Marc and his companion Lori; grandchildren Dylan Krause and his wife Grace, Caleb Krause and his fiancé Natalie, Takoda and Cheyenne; and great-grandchildren Wyatt and Weston.

A Mass and a service of Christian burial is scheduled at Holy Angels Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans on June 15th at 12:30 pm with visiting hours preceding at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main Street, St. Albans from 10 am – 12 pm. The burial of Andre and Nicole will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Honored to be serving the family of Andre Lapierre is Rett Heald at the Heald Funeral Home, where messages of condolences are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com
