Timothy John Staples

ST. ALBANS: Timothy “Tim” John Staples––loving father, Papa, former husband, son, and sibling––passed away on Wednesday, March 13th, 2024, surrounded by his loving friends and family, following a brief but courageous battle against cancer.

Tim was born in Burlington, VT on March 28th, 1965, to his father, Melvyn Bruce, and mother, Patricia Evelyn (Fitzgerald) Staples. Tim was a graduate of Missisquoi Valley Union High School, class of 1983, and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force. Upon discharge, Tim went on to become a successful entrepreneur, contractor, and developer where he earned the nickname, “Tim, The Tool Man.” As a long-time area resident, Tim was an involved member of his community and was a former member of Franklin Lodge # 4 F & AM.  

Tim is survived by his daughter, Eva Watson, and her husband, Willy; his son, Patrick Staples, and his partner, Brittanie Harrod; his son, Devin Staples, and his partner, Shelby Cherrier; his daughter, Meagan Rivera, and her husband, James. Tim is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Chloe, Gavin, Lucy, and Fletcher; Madelyn and Eleanor “Nellie”; Logan and Marian. In addition to his children and grandchildren, Tim is survived by his beloved former wife, Kari Tremblay, as well as his special friend, Roxanne Mcmillan. Tim is also survived by his brothers, Troy and Todd Staples, and their wives, Jane and Liz; and many surviving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Melvyn and Patricia, Tim was predeceased by his grandson, Holden Staples.

As a Vermont native, Tim was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. He enjoyed few things more than sharing these cherished pastimes with his children, grandchildren, and close friends. Those closest to Tim also know that he was a diehard Cowboys fan, as well as an accomplished air guitarist.

Tim will be remembered for his special brand of off-color humor, his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone unquestionably, and his unwavering love and devotion to his family. His corner of the world will never be the same.  

A Celebration of Tim’s Life will be held on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, commencing at 1:00 PM with Military Honors until 4:00 PM at the Elks Lodge, 44 Gricebrook Road, St. Albans.
