Ronald Dale West
RICHFORD: Ronald Dale West, age 76, passed away surrounded by his loving family on May 29, 2024, at the Northwestern Medical Center. Ronnie, as he was affectionately known, was born on March 8th, 1948, in St. Albans, the son of the late Ronald & Betty (Farrar) West, and spent his life surrounded by the community he loved.
From his days as a student athlete at Richford High School to his service in the U.S. Navy, Ron had a deep connection to his town and country. As a teenager, he spent his summers working on local farms. His passion for music, especially playing the guitar, brought joy to many. He loved watching the New York Yankees and spending countless hours at the Richford Country Club.
Throughout his varied career, including roles at Blue Seal Feed, IBM, A. Brown’s, and his own business, Ron’s TV & Repair, Ron found fulfillment and joy in his work. He retired as custodian of the Richford High School and began his part-time work with Mark Bruin and the Richford Country Club. He was a proud member of the Richford American Legion for over 50 years.
Ron lived a simple and meaningful life, always valuing the relationships he built with those around him. He believed that the true measure of life was not in possessions but in the connections we make and keep. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and community spirit.
He is survived by his children, Ronald West Jr. of Brownsville, TX, and Matthew West of Milton; four grandchildren; his siblings, Thomas West and his wife Gail of Richford, Larry West and his wife Jeannie of Enosburg Falls, Jay West of St. Albans, David West of Richford, and Christopher West and his wife Belinda of Hahira, GA; his best friend, Michael Taylor; and many nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
In addition to his parents, Ron was predeceased by his siblings, Robert West, and Linda West.
Ron’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thank you and appreciation for everything that was done for him, especially the staff from the Progressive Care Unit at the Northwestern Medical Center and the St. Albans Health & Rehab Center, everyone from the Richford American Legion and the Richford Country Club that helped put on his final ride through Richford, and all of his friends from the Missisquoi Manner where he resided for the past several years.
Friends and family are invited to Ron’s life celebration on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, to include visitation from 4-6:00 pm followed by a memorial service with military honors at 6 pm at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, VT.
