Michael Larose
ENOSBURG FALLS– It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael Larose, a remarkable individual whose impact on both his community and his loved ones will forever be cherished. Michael departed from this world on October 27, 2023 at the age of 70, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering determination, compassion, and a zest for life.
Born on September 10, 1953, in St. Albans to the late Albert and Rita (Giroux) Larose, Michael grew up in a close-knit family and developed a strong work ethic at a young age. He graduated from the West Berkshire Academy and, though he diverged from the conventional path of education, he later obtained his GED, proving his dedication to continuous personal growth.
Michael followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a cattle dealer and then became an auctioneer. Throughout his life, he displayed an entrepreneurial spirit, involved in various ventures, including the world of antiques and property flipping. Always ahead of his time, he embraced unique opportunities and pursued innovative ideas.
As an engaged and devoted family man, Michael took great pride in his role as a father to his three beloved sons. He provided endless support and created cherished memories, such as building them their own ball field, ensuring they had a place to play and grow together with the community. He was a fixture at their sporting events, cheering them on with unwavering pride and wholehearted support. It was later in life that he was able to extend this love to his grandchildren who lit up his life, attending Adeleine’s dance recitals and soccer games. His love extended beyond his immediate family, nurturing a close bond with his nieces and nephews and actively participating in their lives.
Passionate about his community, Michael dedicated himself to making a difference. He was elected to the Board of Trustees in Enosburg, where he tirelessly advocated for the improvement and progress of The Village. His involvement in the rebuild of Main Street showcased his commitment to a thriving community and his unwavering belief in its potential.
A lifelong learner, Michael had a thirst for knowledge and took pleasure in expanding his horizons through reading. His vast knowledge and quick wit made him a formidable opponent in intellectual pursuits, frequently showcasing his wisdom while enjoying friendly competition, particularly while watching game shows like Jeopardy.
Outside of his professional and intellectual pursuits, Michael found joy in simple pleasures. He loved spending time playing pool, where he honed his skills and created lasting memories with friends and loved ones. He also enjoyed escaping to nature, hunting and fishing, that provided moments of tranquility and serenity. Additionally, he found solace in his passion for landscaping and took pride in curating beautiful outdoor spaces. Mike was also proud of reaching 41 years of sobriety and supported many others in their steps to recovery. In his giving nature he also looked forward to donating blood every opportunity he had.
Michael’s inquisitive nature and activism endeared him to countless individuals throughout his journey in life. His ability to forge deep connections and form lasting friendships was a testament to his demeanor, and authentic nature. Michael’s impact was not confined to a single chapter of his life but was felt and appreciated by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
He is survived by his three sons and their mother, Anthony Larose of Enosburg and his daughter Adeleine, Justin Larose of Swanton, Matthew Larose & Megan Russin of Enosburg and their children Prosper Allen and Gideon Albert, and Janet Larose of Swanton; siblings, Claire Larose-Kaczmarczyk of Richford, Susan Dussault and her husband Pierre of Richford, Larry Larose and his wife Linda of Florida, Jean Jewett and her husband Daniel of Enosburg Falls, Diane Lumbra and her husband Lloyd of Berkshire, Barbara Hungerford and her husband Thomas of Swanton, Lisa Barnes of Richford, Lorraine McAllister and her husband Michael of Berkshire, and Jeannette Larivee and her husband James of St. Albans; sisters-in-law, Sharon Larose of Enosburg Falls and Karen Larose of Swanton; many many special nieces and nephews who coined his nickname “Uncle Mike”; and countless friends he made along the way. In addition to his parents, Albert & Rita, Mike was predeceased by his siblings, Ronald, Andre, Stephen, and Mary Larose; brother-in-law, John Kaczmarczyk; nephew, Timothy Bovat; and longtime friend, Mike Moran.

Family and friends are invited to Mike’s life celebration on Saturday, November 4, 2023 to include a memorial service beginning at 6:00PM at The Opera House, 123 Depot Street, Enosburg Falls, VT 05450 followed by a potluck reception for a continued time of sharing. Bring a dessert or dish to share if you wish.
