Georgianna “Georgie” L. Demar

ST. ALBANS: Our mom passed away peacefully on April 19th, 2024 at home with family by her side. Mom was 93 years old.

Mom was born on April 9th, 1931, to her parents Norris and Louisa (Hemingway) Gaudette in St. Albans, Vermont.

Georgie married the love of her life, Henry A. Demar, Sr. on December 17th, 1960. They cherished their love and commitment until his passing in 1998.

Seven years later Georgie met Gordon Raine. They would spend ten years together enjoying each other’s love and companionship, traveling, and spending time with family at camp on Lake Champlain. During this time his daughters were added to our family, Paula (Bart) Mortimer and Mary (Paul Shepard).

Georgie was a proud mother of six children: Calvin (Butch) Rushford, son of Calvin Rushford, Darlene Dolan, Edward White Sr, Connie M. Farrington and Sharrie Morin by Edward L. White, and Henry Demar son of Henry A. Demar. She also loved and cherished her two stepchildren, Sandra Trabert and Peter J. Demar (QBall).

Georgie worked hard all her life in various positions including waitressing at Ernie’s Lunch, Cornerstone, working for George Yett Bag Company, and retiring at Fonda Container.

Georgie enjoyed many activities including dancing, crocheting, and puzzles with friends in the community room, attending the Senior Center, reading, and catching up with family and friends on her iPad. Most evenings, she was playing cards at her best friend, Muriel Bovat’s, from 5:30 – 9:30 pm.

The most important in Georgie’s life were her family and friends. She had a heart of gold for each one of us. She always put everyone before herself. She was the best mom in the world.

Georgie is survived by her children, Darlene Dolan, Edward and Rosemarie White Sr., Connie and Michael Farrington, and Sharrie and Ronnie Morin, her stepdaughter, Sandra and David Trobert, a special niece, Diane and Jeff Casey; and dear friends, Nancy Burnelle, Corrine Farnsworth, Gilberte Callan, Barb Young, and several neighbors at Four Winds Complex.

Georgie also leaves nineteen grandchildren, thirty great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, as well as twelve step-grandchildren and Angie White, “a granddaughter who took excellent care of her Meme.”

Our mom was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Henry A. Demar, Sr., her sisters, Lucielle (Larry), Gertrude (Israel), Esther (Gordon), and two brothers, Norris Gaudette (Lena) and Eugene Holbrook.
