CAUGHT WITHOUT A LICENSE, TWICE IN AN HOUR

ST. ALBANS: When Vermont State Trooper Michael Mattuchio pulled over a man without a license last week in St. Albans- he cited him into court and told him he couldn’t drive his car home, but within an hour a worker at the gas station where the car was parked called police to tell them he’d just left with the car.

According to police, Christopher Bushey, 29, of Swanton was driving a blue Chevrolet sedan when he was pulled over in the Maplefields parking lot near Exit 20.

That was at 8:44 PM on Wednesday, according to the trooper, 46 minutes late the trooper was notified by dispatch that a worker at the gas station had just called to say that Bushey had driven away in his vehicle.

The trooper said he knew Bushey worked at Wal-Mart, so he went there to check for the car first. When he saw the car parked in the Wal-Mart lot, he went inside and questioned Bushey.

According to Mattuchio, Bushey initially denied driving his vehicle, but later admitted to the officer that he’d driven it again, minutes after the trooper had left the gas station.

Bushey is due in court on January 9th in relation to the two charges of driving with a criminally suspended license.
