ESSEX. VT: Sebastian Taft, of St. Albans, a Super Heavyweight amateur boxer defeated his opponent Saturday evening in the first round of the Northern New England Golden Gloves boxing tournament in Essex Jct.
The referee stopped the bout after just one and a half rounds.
From the blue corner, Taft came out strong, pushing his opponent, Alexander Keeley, around the ring throughout the entire bout.
The win advances Taft to next weekend’s championship bout.
