Kevin G. Royea Sr.
ENOSBURG FALLS – Kevin G. Royea Sr., age 55, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at his home in Enosburg Falls after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in St. Albans on August 19, 1964, the son of the late Basil and Winifred (Currier) Royea.
Kevin grew up in Stevens Mills and attended school in Richford. After school, he jumped right into work, farming, logging, and most recently, operating heavy equipment for 17 years at J.A. McDonald Construction, a position he was very proud of and worked hard to achieve. He loved being outside and could not bear the thought of being cooped up. He enjoyed ice fishing, hunting, hiking, swimming, camping, four wheeling, gardening, visiting the ocean, listening to music, and spending time at his camp. Much of his free time was spent tinkering and keeping his hands busy, a trait he inherited from his father. He loved the challenge of fixing things for himself but especially for others, his selflessness did not go unnoticed. His family was at the center of his life and he cherished the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren. Kevin will be remembered for his sense of humor, willpower, and his strength to never complain.
He is survived by his children, Crystal Royea and her significant other Mikel Walker of Derby, Deanna Royea and her significant other Myron Embury of Berkshire, Kevin Royea Jr. of East Richford, and Lacey Longe and her husband John of Berkshire; grandchildren, Riley, Devin, Audrey, Alivia, Alexis, Madeline, Aspen, and Jason; significant other and his “Angel in Disguise”, Linda Billado of Enosburg; the mother of his children, Laura Royea of Derby Line; siblings, James Royea, Gary Royea and his wife Pam, and Sylvia Cox and her husband John all of Richford; sister-in-law, Bonnie Wilson and her husband Asa Jr. of Richford; several nieces and nephews; beloved chocolate lab, Daisey; fishing buddy, Timmy Irons; good friends, James Longe, Bruce Cota, Jim Blodgett, Brian Corwell Sr, and John Boylan; and many other friends who will miss him dearly. Besides his parents, Kevin was predeceased by his son, Joshua Johnson; grandson, Aven Royea; brother, Dale Royea; and sister, Martha Irons.
Kevin’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Franklin County Home Health Hospice, Dr. Ades and all of the nurses at UVM Medical Center, and Dr. Babb at Cold Hollow Family Practice for the wonderful care he received.
