POLICE SEEK HELP IN SUSPECTED ARSON
SHELDON: The Sheldon Fire Department responded last night to a report of a confirmed structure fire off East Sheldon Road.
Dispatch requested the Sheldon Fire Department to respond to 3752 East Sheldon Road in Sheldon just before 7:25 pm on Thursday. When crews arrived, they discovered that there were two hunting blinds that were burning.

Both blinds belonged to 69 year-old Stephen Harrness of Sheldon, according to Vermont State Police Det. Sgt. Matthew Hill, who serves as the arson investigator for the top half of the State.
According to Hill, Harrness was the caller who reported the fires to 911. Hill said Harness “discovered the fire while driving by the area.”
According to Hill, Sheldon Fire Chief Rick Piaseczny requested assistance from the State Police in determining the cause of the fires.
Hill said that investigators worked today to collect evidence and photograph both fires. The damage, he estimates, is greater than $1,300, with both blinds completely destroyed.
Hill said there were no injuries identified in the suppression or investigation of these fires.
Anyone with information about this fire event is encouraged to the Vermont Arson Tip Award Program hotline at 1-800-32-ARSON. That program offers rewards up to $5,000 for leads that turn into arson-related arrests.
