ENOSBURGH CRASH INJURES ONE, POLICE SAY

ENOSBURGH: A vehicle crash on Perley Road left the driver injured Tuesday evening, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department- the law enforcement agency responsible for investigating the crash.

According to Deputy Camilleri, the driver was identified as 39-year-old Felton Lafontaine of Berkshire. Lafontaine was transported to Northwestern Medical Center after being extricated from the wreckage.

The call was reported to 911 at around 8:05 pm by a passer-by who happened onto the crash, according to police.

The driver was trapped inside the vehicle after it struck a tree, according to Camilleri. Rescue crews from Enosburgh Ambulance, Enosburgh Fire, and Richford Ambulance responded to free the man and transport him to the hospital for his injuries.

Camilleri did not indicate the extent of the injuries that Lafontaine sustained, only that he had been successfully extricated from the vehicle after the fire department cut the roof off the Chevrolet Suburban.

Lieutenant John Grismore of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said the crash was so intense that it just about cut the Suburban in half.

“A cause for the crash has yet to be determined and is still under investigation, but speed could certainly be a major factor in the severity of the crash, as well as other issues,” Lt. Grismore said.
