Wayne Wallace

ENOSBURG FALLS: Norman “Wayne” Wallace, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 16, 2020, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

He was born in St. Albans on March 24, 1951, the son of Shirley (Combs) Wallace and the late Norman Wallace.

Wayne grew up in Enosburgh and graduated from EFHS in 1969. After graduation, he married the love of his life, Edna Callan on July 4, 1970. Wayne had several jobs in construction and most recently was a supervisor for G.W. Savage Corporation. He was a proud member of the Sons of the American Legion and in his younger years served for the Enosburgh Fire Department. When Wayne wasn’t working, he could be found hunting, ice fishing, having a coffee with his friends, playing a game of 500, Pitch, and Cribbage, or cooking up his famous potato chips and fish fry at camp, but most certainly not cleaning it up. Wayne enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his cherished grandchildren who affectionately knew him as “Bamp”. He will be most remembered for his witty sense of humor and his reaction when cards weren’t falling in his favor.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Edna Wallace; daughters, Shannon Wallace Smith and her husband Tyris, and Tatum Kane and her husband Josh; grandchildren, Preston Smith, Riley Kane, and his significant other Katie Lacasse, and Camryn Kane and her significant other Adam Hubbard; five step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; mother, Shirley Wallace; brother, Jay Wallace; mother-in-law, Gilberte Callan; special uncles and aunts, Art and Marie Combs, and Olive Lovelette; sisters-in-law, Claire Aube and her husband George, Emily Ouimette and her husband Gordon, and Jenny Toof and her husband Brian; brothers-in-law, Dwight Callan and his wife Louise, and Mike Callan and his significant other Doris; a special niece, Amy Adams; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his hunting, ice fishing, and coffee cronies that will miss him dearly.

Besides his father, Wayne was predeceased by his sister, Monica Brileya; his father-in-law, Ray Callan; and niece, Missy Columb.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 21, 2020, from 1:00 PM- 4:00 PM at Spears Funeral Home, 89 Dickinson Ave, Enosburg Falls, VT 05450. All friends and family will be asked to wear a mask inside.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, June 22, 2020, at 2:00 PM on the back lawn at Spears Funeral Home along the Missisquoi River.

For those who wish, contributions in Wayne’s memory may be made to Peoples Trust Company, Attn: Missy’s Fund, 25 Kingman Street, St. Albans, VT 05478.
