Christopher James Joyal

Christopher James Joyal lost his courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family, on January 21st, 2021. He was born in Morrisville, Vermont on February 18th, 1971.

Chris is survived by his mother June Joyal, father Landon (Sherri) Joyal, his loving wife and best friend Vanessa, his son Hunter Berry, daughter Erica Belknap (partner Cody Smith), daughter Megan (Whitney) Johnson; siblings Timothy (Cathy) Joyal, Jesse (Lori) Joyal, Sonya Ovitt, and Shaun Spradlin; grandchildren Naomi, Wyatt, Addilynne, and William; and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Chris was a devoted husband and loving father with a quick wit and peaceful demeanor that would bring a smile to your face no matter the situation. He led a family oriented life with his wife, kids, and grandkids being his entire world. Known to us all as the adoring Grumpa, he was often found in the backyard helping the grandkids chase away monsters or playing Vroom-Vrooms. There was never a project too big or small to make his grandkids happy. Whether assembling a playset, building a fairy table, or whittling a beautiful wind chime, it was his greatest joy and his heart was in it.

Aside from his love of family, he very much enjoyed his career in HVAC and was often the go-to for a job his family and friends needed. No matter what task he was doing it was not uncommon to find him whistling or humming some made-up tune, even if just to himself. His smile, laughter, and humming was contagious and will be dearly missed.

Per Chris’ request, a small memorial service will be held in Ohio at a date to be determined with a final service taking place in Sheffield, Vermont.

Ducro Funeral Services and Crematory, 4524 Elm Avenue, Ashtabula has been entrusted with final arrangements www.ducro.com.
