ST. ALBANS MAN BEHIND BARS AFTER ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULT

Travis Cruz, 30, of St. Albans is behind bars this evening after State Police say he was arrested on the charge of Aggravated Sexual Assault.

The incident was investigated by the Vermont State Police, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, according to Detective Trooper Vienna Valenti of the Williston State Police Barracks.

No additional details were released by State Police, but Cruz is expected to be arraigned tomorrow at 8:30 am in Franklin County Criminal Court. In the meantime, he is being held on $25,000 bail at Northwest Correctional Center in St. Albans Town.

Cruz is a registered sex offender, with a previous conviction of sexual assault on a victim less than 16 years old. That charge dates back to 2010, when Cruz was 19 years old. He is currently listed as “not high risk” on the State’s sex offender registry.

According to Cruz’ Facebook profile, he operates Fresh Look Property Maintenance. A search for Cruz’s previous criminal history indicates he has been arrested several times for driving with a criminally suspended license, violating conditions of release, excessive speed, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

Editor’s Note: A previous version of this story incorrectly stated that Cruz had no history of sexual assaults.
