VERMONT HAS EXTRA VACCINE APPOINTMENTS, HERE’S HOW TO GET ONE SOONER THAN YOU MAY HAVE THOUGHT

ESSEX: The Vermont Health Department has coordinated with the Vermont National Guard in disbursing vaccines to the elderly through a clinic in South Burlington.

Officials say that many have not signed up for that clinic though, and slots are going unfilled.

According to Vermont Department of Health Communication Officer Ben Truman, the state believes that due to the alphabetical order of the listing of places to get vaccines on the website, those picking a location may not even be seeing the South Burlington location as an option.

“We want to vaccinate as many Vermonters as we can as quickly as possible. Vermonters who are now eligible can help by signing up now,” Truman wrote in an email to media members on Thursday morning.

Anyone 65 years of age or older can sign up for the vaccine on the State’s website, or by clicking here.

“There are lots of open first-dose appointments at Vermont National Guard-run clinics on March 5, 6 and 7 in South Burlington,” Truman said.

According to the State’s COVID-19 dashboard, there have been at least 235,000 doses of the vaccine administered to Vermonters since the rollout began in late December. That amounts to one in every five Vermonters over the age of 16 being at least partially vaccinated. 60,000 Vermonters have completed the vaccine regiment with both doses of the vaccine, according to the Health Department.

The Health Department says more than 80% of Vermonters over the age of 75 have been vaccinated. 43% of Vermonters 70-74 have been vaccinated, and 13% of Vermonters 65+ have received at least one round of vaccines.

The data shows that females in Vermont are more likely to be vaccinated than males. 24% of females in the State have recieved the vaccine, while only about 15% of males.

Franklin County laggs the rest of the state a bit, with around 17% of the residents in the county having been administered at least one vaccine. Rutland County has vaccinated almost one in four residents there.

Essex County is showing the fewest number of vaccines per capita, with just over 14% vaccinated.
