Vera “Vivian” Bishop
FRANKLIN: Vera “Vivian” Bishop, loving mom, and grandmother, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 90, on May 11, 2021 in Enosburg Falls.
She was born in Highgate on March 2, 1931 to the late Clarence & Marie (Raymond) Machia.
Vivian married the love of her life, Lawrence Bishop in 1948, and they shared 72 wonderful years of marriage. They raised seven children together and made countless memories. She cared for her husband Lawrence until he passed in their home in 2009.
Words cannot express the love she had for immediate and extended family. She devoted her entire life to caring for others and showering them with unconditional love and compassion. Vivian raised numerous daycare children and had an open door for anyone else who needed a warm meal, a shoulder to lean on or simply to fulfill a craving for her perfect Banana Cream Pie, a staple her family will never exactly be able to recreate.
Vivian was the glue that held the entire family together. Every holiday and birthday were celebrated in her home where nobody left hungry or feeling unloved. She filled everyone with laughter, love, honesty, and kindness. She found the good in everyone, even if they had done wrong. Vivian made cakes for special occasions, was known for her signature popcorn balls at Halloween, and always remembered everyone’s birthday. In their earlier years, she and Lawrence enjoyed gathering with family at the camp at Lake Carmi. Later in life, she took annual vacations with her two sisters and loved tending to her magnificent flower gardens. Vivian had a heart larger than the average person and her family will always be grateful for the love she shared and the life lessons she taught them.
Vivian is survived by her children, Larry Bishop of St. Albans, Alan Bishop and his wife Darlene of Enosburgh, Tammie Lafromboise and her husband Michael of Fairfax, Susan Mayo and her husband William of Franklin, Patti Corey and her husband Kenneth of Franklin, and Joey Bishop Sr. also of Franklin; grandchildren, Liza and Tom Harrness, Angie Legault, Shawn St. Pierre and Libby Dusablon, Kayla St. Pierre, Jason and Ryan Noel, Shane Noel and Maria Carlson, Megan and Thomas Walker, Carrie and Michael Tourville, Robert and Nicole Mayo, Ashley and Hector Lopez, Bradley and Desiree Corey, Katie and Aaron Boulerice, Amber and Bill Deuso, Joey Bishop Jr. and Brooklyn Hale; 23 great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; an honorary grandchild, Mason; son-in-law, Mark St. Pierre; sisters, Betty Parah and Claire Berteau; brother, Earl Machia; and several special nieces, nephews, adopted children, and friends.
Besides her parents, Vivian was predeceased by her daughter, Bonnie St. Pierre on December 8, 2008; her husband Lawrence on January 29, 2009; and several siblings.
Family and friends are invited to Vivian’s Life Celebration events to include visitation on Thursday, May 20, 2021, from 4-7:00 PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT 05488.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 21, 2021, at 10:00 AM, at the Goss Life Celebration Home, Swanton. Interment will immediately follow in the St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery, Mill Street, Sheldon, VT.
