Nancy R. Combs

RICHFORD– Nancy R. Combs, age 89, passed away on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at her home in Montgomery.

She was born in Ashland, ME on September 24, 1932, to the late William and Marjorie (Adams) Orcutt.

Nancy graduated from Brantford High School in Ontario and moved to Massachusetts where she met the love of her life, Homer H. Combs. The two were married on January 1, 1952. Homer’s military career took them to many locations, including New York and Germany, until settling in Richford where they became incredibly involved in their community. Nancy was an active lifetime member of the Richford American Legion Auxiliary, D.A.V. Jay Peak Chapter #16, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and served as the Richford tax collector for 2 years. She owned and operated the 1776 Pizza & Sub Shop and worked as a realtor for Century 21 for 4 years, and Jay Peak for 3 years all while raising 4 children. In her younger years, she loved bowling, filling her home with music from her organ, playing cards, and crafting. As she grew older she enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, playing Nintendo, and bird watching. Nancy cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, David H. Combs and his wife Izabella of San Jose, CA, Douglas W. Combs and his wife Joyce of Erwin, NC, Brenda Combs of Montgomery, and Lisa Fusco and her husband George of Wareham, MA; grandchildren, Andrew Combs, of Spartanburg, SC, Christopher Combs and his wife Karen of Charleston, SC, Alyssa Fuller and her husband Dana of Montgomery, Deanna Fusco of Wareham, MA, Kristine Fusco of Bourne, MA, Jason Fusco of Richford, Amber Fusco of Richford, Julie Hudson of Dunn, NC, Sara Hobson of Dunn, NC, and Donnie Hamilton of Dunn, NC; great-grandchildren, Jameson, Connor, Levi, Johanna, Caroline, Giovanni, Maddox, Knox, Jeffrey, Nevaeh, Kolby, Mariah, Charlotte, and Mackenzie; brothers-in-law, Carlton “Pete” Combs and his significant other Grace Martin, and Steve Combs and his wife Candice; sister-in-law, Yvonne Combs; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Nancy was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Homer Combs, grandson, Anthony Fusco, and sister, Judy Barkley.

A graveside service will be held in the summer of 2022 at the convenience of Nancy’s family.
