Therese Alberta Marie Demar
MONTGOMERY CENTER – Therese Alberta Marie Demar, age 89, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at the Pine Rehab and Health Facility in Lyndonville.
She was born in Richford on August 14, 1932 to the late Albert S. and Leontine M. (Gendron) Robert.
Therese grew up in Enosburgh on her family’s farm and attended school in Enosburg Falls. She married the love of her life, Mitchell Demar on June 20, 1951, and the two moved to Montgomery Center where they made their home. She was an active member of the St. Isidore Catholic Church and enjoyed preparing church meals and donating her homemade crafts for their bazaars. Therese had a creative mind and a talent for creating knick knacks, ornaments, and other crafts out of just about anything. When she wasn’t busy coming up with a new creation, she enjoyed bowling, playing BINGO, visiting casinos, and making her famous baked beans. Music also played a big part of Therese’s life—she loved listening to, singing, and playing her favorite country westerns songs on the spoons, organ, piano, or guitar. Therese was independent, and a favorite aunt to her cherished nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her siblings, Pauline Lefebvre of Hoosick Falls, NY, Paul Robert and his wife Linda of Waterville, and Claire Suiter of Spokane, WA; sister-in-law, Louise Wetherby; and several nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to her parents, Therese was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Mitchell Demar; siblings, Patrick Robert, Mary Jane Murray and her husband Albert, Hector Robert and his wife Barbara, Aurore Lawton and her husband Robert, and Simone Burns and her husband Bernard; and brothers-in-law, Charles Suiter, and Gordon Wetherby.
