Kevin M. Lafaso
ST. ALBANS/RUTLAND: Kevin M. Lafaso, also lovingly known as the “Mayor of Congress Street” passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, April 4, 2022, with his loyal friend and roommate Donald Robtoy, also known as “Toot,” by his side.
He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends who were always entertained by his stories and hilarious sense of humor and who were also in awe of his kindness, love and support to everyone he met.
He was born on September 4, 1965, in Rutland to the late Sandra Gipe (Miglorie) and Joseph Lafaso. Kevin was raised by James and Sandra Gipe in Rutland, Killington and Rutland Town.
Kevin was an outstanding football player during his school years. He graduated from Rutland High School in 1983. Kevin also won the Golden Gloves Boxing Championship in 1993.
Kevin was an excellent carpenter and roofer, which he apprenticed under his dad, Jim Gipe. Later on, he was the proud proprietor of Lafaso Building & Remodeling. Kevin was a foodie. He loved the beach, kayaking, and hanging out on the deck in the summer.
Kevin loved his daughters more than anything and talked fondly of all three of them. He always shared updates and photos of them.
When Kevin moved to St. Albans, he made a big impact on the community. He loved it there. He was fondly known by his neighbors as the “Mayor of Congress Street.” He never met a stranger, always had time for everyone and never failed to say hello to his neighbors and make them feel special. He routinely handed out dog treats, money when needed, and even built a ramp for a physically challenged dog.
Kevin leaves behind his daughters Kelsey and Emma Lafaso, of whom he loved deeply and was so proud of; step-father James Gipe; brothers Joseph, Scott, and Matthew Lafaso, sister Lisa Clark; half-sister Megan Hercher, as well as many other nieces, nephews and extended family.
Kevin was predeceased by his beloved daughter Ashley Ellis; mother Sandra Gipe (Miglorie); twin sister Karen Lafaso (whom he fondly called Bob when they were little); brother Keith Lafaso; and his biological father Joseph Lafaso.
He’s now resting peacefully with his beloved daughter Ashley, mother Sandra, and his twin sister Karen.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
