Ralph Edmund Young
SWANTON/FAIRFAX: Ralph Edmund Young, a longtime area resident, passed away Saturday July 30th, 2022 at the Franklin County Rehab Center.
Born in Swanton on August 10th, 1921, he was the son of the late William J. and Caroline M. (Larocque) Young. Ralph was 100 years old.
Ralph served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge, in 1945, he returned to Swanton where he was a heavy equipment operator and eventually opened his own business, R.E. Young Construction and Landfill. He was a longtime member of Green Mountain Post # 1 American Legion in St. Albans. He enjoyed fishing on Hog Island and the Lamoille River in Fairfax.
Raalph is survived by his sister, Rose Valiaquette and her children, Leona and Paul of Connecticut; his close friends, Jill and Robert Russell and their daughters, Jan and David Sweet and their family, and Jenny and Darren Plouff and their family, as well as his favorite two little dancers, Peyton and Piper Sweet.
In addition, to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his longtime companion and fishing buddy, Eunice Russell.

At his request services and military honors will be private at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph.
