Greta Beaulieu
ENOSBURG FALLS: Greta Beaulieu, age 93, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2022, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
She was born in Montpelier on July 20, 1929, to the late James S. & Clara (Cooley) Gleason.
Greta grew up in Enosburg Falls and was a lifelong resident graduating from Enosburg Falls High School in 1948. She had an unmatched work ethic and worked multiple jobs in the community to support her four children. Some of these jobs included, cooking for multiple local restaurants, such as Carney’s with her brother “Boob”, Jay Peak, Missisquoi Camp, the Golf Course, and the Enosburg School system, both Elementary and High School, where she retired in 1995 after over 30 years.
Greta married Andre Beaulieu on December 15, 1985. The two enjoyed countless nights dancing and bowling together. Greta also loved spending time reading, playing cards with her 500 Card Club, doing a little gambling at the casinos, baking for her family and friends, and of course, cooking and sharing her famous baked beans. Greta enjoyed her TV and watching golf, the game show network, and the old black and white westerns. BUT above all, she loved being a mom and put her children first in everything she did. Greta was reserved but liked giving back to her community and being involved. She was an Enosburg American Legion Auxiliary member for over 75 years and served as the president in 1985. In addition to the Auxiliary and the Red Hats, she also volunteered at the Enosburg Methodist Church and gave her time cooking with the United Methodist Women’s Club and singing in the choir in her younger years.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Andre Beaulieu of Enosburg Falls; children, Larry Kennison and his wife Maria, Mindy Stone and her husband Francis, and Timothy Kennison and his wife Sharon; son-in-law, Dana Kittell; step-daughters, Susan Black, and Ann Marie Dixon; grandchildren, Gina, Elisha, Jesse, Kregg, Kamie, Jeri, Jodi, Nicole, Hollee, and Aaron; and a multitude of nieces, and nephews. She was very proud to say she had 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Besides her parents, Greta was predeceased by her daughter, Judith Kittell; brothers, Neil, Jimmy, Stuart “Boob,” and Robert Gleason; and sisters, Betty Jacobs, Polly Young, and Letty Ann Barton.
In keeping with Greta’s wishes, services will be held privately.
For those who wish contributions in Greta’s memory may be made to Enosburgh Falls Ambulance Services, P.O. Box 465, Enosburg Falls, VT 05450.
