Sheila Marshia

LEDYARD, CT: The family of Sheila Marshia sadly announces her passing on May 19, 2022 while in the loving arms of her husband Robert (Bob) Hicks.

Sheila was born in East Fairfield on October 10, 1950 to Meredith (Ramon) Marshia and Helen (Mclaren) Marshia. Sheila grew up in St. Albans and graduated from BFA-St. Albans in 1968.

After graduation, Sheila moved to Ledyard, Connecticut where she met the love of her life, Bob. She and Bob were married in Vermont at her parents’ home, as Vermont was always a special place for her. In Connecticut, Sheila worked for General Dynamics in the Electric Boat division as one of the first female welders working on nuclear submarines. Her diminutive stature allowed her to weld in areas nobody else could.

Sheila is survived by her mother, Helen Marshia, brothers, Dennis Marshia and Michael Marshia; brother-in-law, Chris Beaudry; and several nieces and nephews.

Sheila was predeceased by her father, Ramon Marshia, sisters Gayle Marshia and Sharon Beaudry, and sister-in-law Pauline (Polly) Marshia.

Services will be held at a later date and will be announced by her family.
