Russell A. Giroux
With great sadness, we announce the unexpected passing of Russell “Grampy” Giroux on January 31, 2023, who lived most of his life in Vermont.
Russell was the son of Ramona and the late Richard Giroux on December 28, 1962. He is survived by the love of his life of 32 years, Jane (Marquis) Giroux, his children, Nicole (fiancé, Earl), Jacques (wife Paulina), and Jacqueline (husband Jason), grandchildren Ty’Rell, Ivan, Ja’Rell, Ma’Kell, Madison and E.J.; his sisters Rae (husband Scott) and Renee (significant other Brad); several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many good friends.
He was predeceased by a son, Cory, and two brothers, Richard and Ralph.
Russell enjoyed the mountains, telling jokes, snowmobiling and racing snowmobiles, and jet skis, and going to the Casino, but most importantly his family. Russell adored and loved his grandchildren more than jet skis and snowmobiles; each was very special to him! He was looking forward to seeing his oldest grandson graduate from High School. He enjoyed showing the kids how to fix things and loved the babies! He was very proud of all of them! Russell was the glue that held his family together.
Russell owned and operated R. Giroux Snowmobiles in Athol, MA for over 25 years. He was a great friend to many, both in Vermont and Massachusetts. He will be deeply missed; his warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit will be remembered forever.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main Street, St. Albans, VT. Calling hours are 11 am – 2 pm with a service immediately following. Private burial will be in the spring. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
