Montgomery News, week of November 13, 2023

by Lois Lumbra

It’s Sunday, the second day of the annual rifle deer hunting season. Congratulations to my neighbors, Frank Elkins and Connor Walker, who each got a 3-pointer buck yesterday!

Today our Church Service was led by lay speaker, John Gorton with the sermon “Whom Will You Serve?” We all signed a birthday card for our organist Patrick Evans and sang Happy Birthday as he will celebrate his birthday on Monday, November 13.

Our weather has been cold and cloudy here all day. My daughter, Penny, loves it and seems not to mind that cold air, she said it feels great. She and her son, David Newton, took their dog Bella for a nice walk and play time this morning.

Saturday afternoon I called the Carpenter camp to talk with Patricia and Charlie answered, which surprised me. We had a nice chat and he is doing well, just taking longer to heal, and that comes with age, as I have also found out. He misses going out for the hunting season but knows that will come later. God bless you and Patricia for helping one another and for the love you and your family have for one another.

Yes, it’s deer season time and Howard and Kathy King have a hunting crew that come each year. Carleton Kaherl and son Jason from Maine arrived Tues. 11/7.  Kathy’s friend Linda Blier and her two sons, Brian and Alvey, and grandson Evan from Connecticut arrived on Thursday 11/9. Napoleon Tetreault Jr. and his son, Jared, from CT came on Friday 11/10. Also arriving the same day were Gary Tetreault Jr. from Florida, Napoleon Tetreault III and sons, Ben and Luke, from CT, who arrived on Sat. 11/11. Josh Blier and Cody Farnsworth, Linda’s grandson from CT, came on 11/11,  and Colby Marshall and Gary Tetreault Sr. Everyone was all here for supper on Saturday night, it was just great to see them all. We love our yearly get-togethers.

Mark your calendars for the Annual Holiday Craft Show on December 9th, 9 am – 3 pm at the Montgomery Elementary School gym. Don’t miss the homemade gift ideas including maple syrup, fudge, pot holders, crafty gifts, homemade cards, jewelry, and lots of other nice things.
