MONTGOMERY NEWS, Week of NOVEMBER 27, 2023

This past week was busy at my home, and having Penny home as schools were closed for the week. We went shopping earlier in the week to purchase our needs for our dinner. Penny made the dressing and stuffed the turkey, then after our dinner we were stuffed, so now we know how the turkey felt.

Penny’s son, David, joined us for dinner and after he helped to remove the outside Thanksgiving decorations, then helped to put the greens and lights around the arbor for Christmas. We had a wonderful day.

On Friday, Penny and I were invited to Jeffersonville where my niece Samantha Royer lives. Her mother/my daughter, Veronica, was helping her prepare a family Thanksgiving dinner to include her brother Tyler and family who came up from Massachusetts. They arrived about three o’clock and we joined in with them and enjoyed our second Thanksgiving dinner.

Special desserts were made for two ladies who were celebrating birthdays, Alicia Elkins’ special day was 11/24, and Veronica was celebrating a little late as her special day was 11/22.

I talked with Connie McFarland and she had all her five children and their spouses, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren making a total of 17 for Thanksgiving, lacking one family that lives in Texas.

Today, November 26, our Church Service was led by John Gorton with his message entitled “Have You Seen The King?” He shared about his Thanksgiving Day with his family coming together and also enjoying celebrating his birthday on 11/25. He showed us the picture of his birthday cake that his wife had made, decorated to look like a turkey.  Note: Next Sunday, December 3, the beginning of the Advent Season, Rev. Purvee is coming to conduct his last service with us and serve communion.  All are welcome to join us!!

Tonight is the last day of the rifle deer hunt season. I checked with the Jolley store here in town and Amanda said there had been 50+ hunters who had reported getting a deer.

A reminder that the Craft Show will be Saturday, December 9, 9 am-3 pm at the Montgomery Elementary School gym.

Happy Birthday to Ethan Mercy, Micah Niles-Racusin 12/5; Charlee Crowley 12/8; Lynda Cluba, and Judith Derencourt 12/9.

Chuckle of the week:

• Q: What smells the best on Thanksgiving Day? A: Your Nose.

• Q: What does a lame turkey say? A: Wobble-wobble.

• Q: What do sweet potatoes wear to bed? A: Yammies.

• Q: What do you call a sad cranberry? A: A blueberry.

That’s all the jokes, I hope I got a little smile out of you.

Have a nice week. M.L.T.A.
